USA and Argentina Excited for Much-Anticipated and Historic Showdown!

“We’re very excited to be part of the first rugby match at this stadium... The facilities are first-class, and we’ve been treated very well… We can make history,” said Federico Serpa of Argentina XV.

“I’m surprised and excited by how beautiful the entire club and all of its facilities are. We toured everything, and today, for the first time, we came to this beautiful stadium. It’s truly exciting because we know there are some of the biggest names in world fútbol here, including Rodrigo De Paul and Lionel Messi, who are both iconic figures in Argentina,” commented Bautista Lescano of Argentina XV.

“We’re very happy that Inter Miami Stadium will host the first rugby match and that we’ll be the ones making history,” added Argentina XV head coach Álvaro Galindo.

“We’re really excited, and always grateful for the opportunity to play rugby and make history in this stadium. And what a massive opportunity it is to play in the stadium where Messi plays. It’s going to be fun, and I’m excited and looking forward to it, ” said USA Men’s Eagles player Ma’ake Muti.

“It’s a beautiful stadium. Obviously, the first thing I recognize as a player is the grass. Unbelievable grass, nice and short for us to be running on. And then the stands are amazing. It’s just amazing for us to be playing in a quality stadium, and especially to be in front of a lot of fans from South Florida,” said USA Men’s Eagles player Dominic Besag.

USA Men’s Eagle Roster

"We're grateful to Argentina for partnering with us in a match that is important for the growth of both programs as we build toward Rugby World Cup 2027 and beyond. While this is an opportunity for us to continue developing our squad and give players valuable international experience, we approach it with the same professionalism and competitive intent that we bring every time we represent the United States,” said Head Coach Scott Lawrence.

Argentina XV’s Roster

“Argentina XV is essentially made up of players who are committed to developing their careers here in the country and who have performed very well in the Super Rugby Americas, where four Argentine franchises compete at the highest level, along with Argentine players representing other franchises. The selection was made from a large pool of players, while also incorporating some standout performances from Los Pumitas, who add further strength to a very strong squad heading into this semester,”  said head coach Álvaro Galindo.

USA vs. Argentina XV Rivalry

The Eagles and Argentina will clash for the first time since meeting in the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship. The addition of this matchup adds another major test to USA Rugby’s 2026 slate, which also includes the inaugural World Rugby Nations Cup in July. Argentina are ranked 5th in the men’s World Rugby Rankings, emphasizing the side’s world-class quality.

“Argentina has earned the respect of the rugby world through its passion, resilience, and consistent excellence. We also have many personal connections with Argentine coaches and players, which makes this occasion even more meaningful," added USA head coach Scott Lawrence. "We know the quality they will bring, and we're looking forward to a physical, challenging contest that will help both teams continue to grow”.

"It's a highly anticipated match because it's a team preparing for the 2027 World Cup. It will be the first match for this squad, which aims for a demanding and competitive six months. These matches will allow the players developing in Argentina to maintain their high level of performance," commented Argentina XV head coach Álvaro Galindo.
